Property Tax Rebate Program for Eligible Charities
In accordance with the Municipal Act, the Town of Iroquois Falls provides for a property tax rebate program for eligible charities for the purposes of giving them relief from taxes or amounts paid on account of taxes on eligible property they occupy.
An eligible charity is a registered charity as defined in the Income Tax Act (Canada) and it has a registration number issued by the Canada Revenue Agency.
The eligible rebate amount is 40%, or such other percentage as the Minister of Finance may prescribe, of the taxes or amounts on account of taxes paid by the eligible charity on an eligible property or portion of eligible property it occupies. However, the Town’s property tax rebate program may provide for rebates that are greater than the prescribed eligible rebate amount for different eligible charities or similar organizations.
For more information please refer to By-Law No. 3143/11 and the Town’s tax rebate policy.
